DIS-TANZ-START aims at graduated dancers living in Germany and graduating in the years 2019 to 2022 from state or state-recognised dance training institutions in Germany, including:
Ballettschule des Hamburg Ballett
Folkwang Universität der Künste Essen
Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt am Main

Hochschulübergreifendes Zentrum Tanz, Berlin
John-Cranko-Schule, Stuttgart
Palucca Hochschule für Tanz Dresden
Staatliche Ballettschule Berlin
Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Mannheim / Akademie des Tanzes
and further training institutions
Career entrants with a non-formal training in special aesthetics of contemporary dance in which no state-recognised training is offered in Germany, or disabled dancers who could not complete a state-recognised training due to barriers, can be registered if alternative evidence is provided instead of a formal certificate.
Proof of residence in Germany must be provided either at the time of application or at the time of graduation.
Please note: Dancers who have already been engaged in a fixed company/theatre for two or more years (one-year-internship or full membership) are unfortunately not eligible for DIS-TANZ-START funding.
In special cases exceptions are possible:
Applications of these people will be reviewed by an expert group also.
Further information on the exceptions can be found in the FAQ.
In addition, students/trainees from German dance training institutions can also be registered, when they are in their final year. However, compulsory internships within the framework of DIS-TANZ-START can be supported financially only in consultation with the German Dance Association, the training institution and the company, as requirements in the study regulations, working conditions and framework conditions need to be clarified in every single case. We are happy to answer further questions from or about students individually.
